MODIFIED LAWS OF THE GAME FOR U4 Law 1: Length: minimum 20 yards maximum 30 yards. Width: minimum 15 yards maximum 25 yards (SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO OUR CONSTRAINTS)
The Goal Area: NO player shall be in the “HALO-ARC” at any time unless the ball is in this area. Penalties for this are indirect for the opposing team.
The “HALO-ARC” shall be a 15 feet (5 yard) radius curve with a center at the middle of the end line (SUBJECT TO CHANGE).
During corner kicks, defending players are NOT allowed in the “HALO-ARC”.
Offensive players do NOT have to be outside of the goal area to score a goal.

The Number of Players: A match is played by two teams, each consisting of 3 OR 4 players. There are NO goalkeepers. Law 4: The Players’ Equipment: per FIFA. Non-uniform clothing is allowed based on weather conditions, but uniforms must still distinguish teams. Shin-guards and cleats are required. Shin-guards shall be completely covered by the socks
NO JEWELRY is permitted at all. This includes watches, earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, hair beads (metal or plastic). All hair accessories should be cloth.
Medical alert bracelets are acceptable provided that they are securely taped down.
Any player that requires special equipment must first be checked by the referee to ensure that the equipment is safe.
Hats are not allowed, toboggans are okay. Sweatbands are okay as well.
Law 5: The Referee: MAY BE A COACH, AND IF SO, ONE COACH WILL CALL 1ST HALF AND THE OTHER TEAM COACH WILL CALL THE 2ND HALF. We try to provide refs for this age group but sometimes we can’t due to schedules.
Law 6: The Assistant Referees: none are needed.
Law 7:
The Duration of the Match: The match shall be divided into four (4) equal, eight (6) minute quarters. There shall be two (2) minute break between quarters one and two and another two (2) minute break between quarters three and four. There shall be a halftime interval of five (5) minutes. The game is divided into four quarters. Law 8: The Start and Restart of Play: Per FIFA.
Law 9: The Ball In and Out of Play: per FIFA.
Law 10: The Method of Scoring: per FIFA.
Law 11: Offside: There shall be no offside called during these games.
Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct: No red or yellow card shall be issued to players.
Law 13: Free Kicks: All kicks shall be indirect. A penalty committed inside the HALO-ARC will be taken 2 yards outside from the HALO-ARC.
Law 14: The Penalty Kick: Since there is no penalty area marked on the field of play for this age group there will be no penalty kicks called.
Law 15: The Throw-In: We will do kick ins with this age group. (NO THROW INS)
Law 16: The Goal Kick: The goal kick should be taken anywhere inside or on the “HALO-ARC”. Opposing players must be two back up to midfield for goal kicks.
Law 17: The Corner Kick: per FIFA. The defending players must stand at least four yards away from the ball until it is kicked.
Additional Rules
• Opposing coaches and players should shake hands after each match.
• Parent/coaches, non-participating players and spectators should be there to enjoy and encourage the activity of the youngsters.
• Spectator and team benches should be on opposite sides of the field.
• No slide tackles to be allowed in this age group.
• No heading of the ball for U6 players. Any headed ball will result in an indirect free kick at the spot of the foul.
• Both teams ARE allowed to have 1 coach on the field during play.
• THERE SHOULDN’T BE ANY PARENTS (OTHER THAN COACHES) ON THE FIELD DURING PLAY
• NO SCORES ARE KEPT FOR THIS AGE GROUP. ALL KIDS WILL BE AWARDED TROPHIES AT THE COMPLETION OF THE SEASON.
• Trophies will be awarded to all U4 teams at the end of the season provided by ACYS.
